Some pools may have lower fees but I doubt there would be a huge difference in the profitability. First it's a maths problem - the reward depends on the computing power put in, not much else. Second it's a highly competitive market - if one pool was far better than another people would quickly move across.

It should be benchmarked but since it's still a money-losing exercise I'm not really keen to spend the money :) Once ETH reaches $3000 it may become profitable and then we can benchmark all the pools.
